Ashlyn held Devin’s gaze and asked softly, “So what are you going to do?”
Devin suddenly broke into a smile. Then, without answering, he took out his cell phone and dialed Gordon’s number.
Then he put the call on speaker for Ashlyn to hear their conversation.
Several seconds later, the call connected.
After a long pause, Gordon’s cold and harsh voice broke the silence. “Devin?”
Devin glanced at Ashlyn and smiled. He said into the phone, “I’m just a little curious. How important is Raina to you?”
“Devin, what the hell do you want?” Gordon sounded angry.
“Well, I’m at the door of Room 1606 in JW Marriott. If you want to know what I want, why don’t you come over and see for yourself?”
Without waiting for a response, Devin hung up abruptly.
He started typing on his phone and sent a message to someone. Afterward, Devin looked up at Ashlyn again and said, “Let’s go in.”
Ashlyn pursed her lips. She didn’t understand what he was up to. “How are you so sure they won’t kick us out?”
Raina might not know her, but she just slapped Arabella in the face. Ashlyn doubted they’d welcome her with open arms.
Devin chuckled. “Maybe Raina’s waiting for you.”
Before Ashlyn could react, Devin raised his hand and knocked on the door.
“Yes?”
It was Arabella who opened the door. Her expression changed at the sight of Ashlyn and Devin.
Soon, the voice of another woman came from inside the room. “Arabella, is that Gordon?”
Hearing how intimate Raina called Gordon, Ashlyn suddenly felt a little ridiculous.
She remembered she once called Gordon intimately. However, the response she got from him was an annoyed look.
Ashlyn was so lost in thought that she didn’t hear what Devin said to Arabella. Next thing she knew, Arabella stepped aside to let them in, revealing another woman standing inside the room.
“Let’s go inside,” Devin said, pulling Ashlyn back to her senses.
Ashlyn nodded and studied Arabella’s expression briefly. Seeing the unmasked hatred in her eyes, Ashlyn couldn’t help but smile. “We meet again.”
Arabella visibly stiffened and she subconsciously touched her cheek, which had been slapped by Ashlyn not long ago.
Gritting her teeth, she let the two in and then slammed the door behind them.
It was the first time that Ashlyn met Raina. Arabella and Raina might’ve been sisters, but the two looked quite different. Arabella was quite alluring and almost sensual, whereas Raina looked pure and innocent.
Raina seemed to be a bit nervous to see Ashlyn. “Hello, Miss Ramos.”
Ashlyn smiled at her faintly and greeted her in kind. “Hello, Miss Morgan.”
After saying that, Ashlyn turned her head to glance at Devin.
She didn’t know why she was here. Besides, it was inappropriate for Ashlyn, Gordon’s ex-wife, to confront Raina, his girlfriend.
Devin smiled at Ashlyn triumphantly. “See?”
Ashlyn tilted her head to the side and gave him a questioning look. Devin continued, “I told you she isn’t as beautiful as you.”
After he said this, the two sisters understood what was going on.
All the color drained from Raina’s face, while Arabella’s face contorted in anger. “Ashlyn, please leave. You are not welcome here,” she hissed through gritted teeth.
Truth be told, Ashlyn didn’t want to be here in the first place. However, Arabella’s hostility made her unhappy, so she decided to stay. “What if I want to stay?”
There was still a trace of Ashlyn’s palm print on Arabella’s cheek, which angered Arabella beyond belief. Fortunately, before she could explode, Raina stepped in front of her sister and put on a smile for Ashlyn. “What can I do for you?”
Seeing Raina’s smile, Ashlyn responded in kind and also smiled. “I think you also want to see me.”
While Ashlyn initially didn’t want to deal with this matter, she was no fool.
She had divorced Gordon more than half a year ago, and the matter regarding Gordon’s new girlfriend had nothing to do with her at all.
Gordon had never loved her.
However, Ashlyn was involved in a rumor with Gordon just recently—a rumor which brought to light Raina’s existence. Now that she knew about Raina, everything in the past made sense.
Besides, before even knocking on their door, Devin had mentioned that Raina was probably waiting for her.
And he was right. When the rumor came out, Raina expected Ashlyn to come to her, but to her disappointment, Ashlyn never came—until now.
What Ashlyn said just now made Raina stiffen slightly, but she soon put on a fake smile. “I don’t understand what you’re trying to say.”
Ashlyn shrugged indifferently. “It doesn’t matter. You’ll understand soon enough.”
“What the hell is that supposed to mean, Ashlyn Ramos?”
Arabella planted her hands on her hips, addressing Ashlyn by her whole name.
Ashlyn turned to look at Arabella incredulously. These two sisters were ridiculous!
“I didn’t mean anything by it. Raina has been back for a long time now, but it seems no one knows this.”
What Ashlyn said was something of a sore spot for Raina, and the latter couldn’t help but lower her head slightly. The smile in her eyes was replaced by coldness.
Ashlyn continued to smile at Raina and added, “I’m quite stubborn. I happened to have some spare time tonight, so I came to find the answers to some questions.”
Since Gordon had kept her in the dark for three years, Ashlyn was determined not to let this matter go.
She couldn’t believe they had fooled her the past three years. And for this, they had to pay.
As soon as Ashlyn finished speaking, there was a knock on the door.
Gordon came so quickly.
It seemed he truly loved Raina.
