Chapter 51 – Divorced! Now What to Do?

“Nonsense!”

Cynthal’s tears infuriated Granny Morrison. She slammed the teacup on the coffee table with vengeance.

“Back then when Brettley wanted to get engaged to you, no one in the family agreed to it, yet he insisted on it, saying how he was fulfilling Bethan’s will!

“Now five years have passed and the family has finally accepted you, yet he’s planning to call off the wedding? Is this just a game to him?“ Granny Morrison looked at the jewelry on the table before she turned to look at Cynthal benevolently.

” Cynthal, don’t worry. You’re filial, and I’ll help you. Brettley must’ve been seduced by that maid, and he must’ve been confused for a moment when he said he wanted to break off your engagement. Don’t worry, I won’t allow Brettley to call off the wedding.“

Cynthal bit her lip as her expression was riddled with grief.

“Granny, I ‘m relieved to hear that. You treat me well…“ Then, Cynthal wiped her tears away.

“Since Granny treats me so well, I have to do the same. Please accept these gifts today. I remember there is another set of Mr. Y’s jewelry. I’ll buy that set as your birthday gift. How about that?“ When Granny Morrison heard that, her face lit up instantly. She smiled.

“Sure, sure, sure!

“Don’t worry about this. I’ll handle this for you.“

“Thank you, Granny!”

Cynthal happily wiped her tears away. She stood up and respectfully bowed to Granny Morrison.

“Granny, I won’t bother you anymore. Please keep the jewelry.“ Cynthal turned and left.

“Butler, please send Ms. Peterson off.“

“Yes.“ Five minutes later, the butler returned to Granny Morrison’s side after sending Cynthal off.

“Didn’t you always dislike Ms. Peterson?“

“Yes.“ Granny Morrison shut her eyes. Bethan Peterson appeared in her mind.

When Bethan married into the Morrison family, Granny Morrison did not like her one bit either. She constantly persuaded Brettley to divorce her. However, who knew that not only did Brettley not divorce her, but he treated her even more dearly. When she eventually went missing, Brettley almost died of drinking because of her. Even if Granny Morrison did not like Bethan Peterson, she had to admit that Bethan was a thousand times better compared to her sister, Cynthal. At least… Granny Morrison opened her eyes and looked at the box of jewelry. At least Bethan Peterson never had any other intentions. Even if Granny Morrison disliked Cynthal, she could only help her. After all, no matter how terrible Cynthal was, she was much better compared to a maid. Five in the evening. Bethan, who had just finished buying groceries from the market, was stopped by two bodyguards.

“The head of the house wants to see you.“ The two bodyguards were no strangers to Bethan. They were Brettley’s grandmother, Granny Morrison’s personal bodyguards. Did that mean Granny Morrison wanted to see her? Bethan smiled flatly and lifted the groceries in her hand.

“Can I put them in the car first?“ The bodyguards nodded. They could not possibly let her carry groceries to see Granny Morrison. Bethan opened the trunk of the car as she carried the groceries in a calm manner. After putting the groceries in, she walked over to the driver’s seat and spoke to the driver,

“I have to deal with some matters. Head back first. I’ll get a cab back later.“ The driver furrowed his brows and looked at the bodyguards standing nearby. He said in a suppressed voice,

“Should I inform Mr. Morrison?“

“No need.“

Bethan smiled.

“It’s a small matter.“ Then, she turned around and walked gracefully to the two bodyguards.

“Let’s go.“ Her graceful and aloof attitude stunned the bodyguards. Even the driver was stunned. Was this woman only a maid? Why was she so graceful and calm at handling sudden matters?

“Let’s go.“

When the bodyguards were still in a daze, Bethan had already walked past them and headed to the sedan by the side. She opened the car door and entered the car. The two bodyguards came to their senses and hurriedly got into the car and drove off. The driver saw the sedan vanish from sight, and he carefully picked up his phone and dialed Lucas.

“Mr. Bean…“ Granny Morrison was waiting for Bethan in a private room of a restaurant. The bodyguard pushed the door open and Bethan walked in calmly. She sat in front of Granny Morrison.

” Hello.“

“You’re Bethan?“ Granny Morrison furrowed her brows a little as she scrutinized the woman with intricate facial features in front of her.

“As expected. You have a seductive face.“ No wonder Brettley would want to break off the engagement with Cynthal; she looked captivatingly beautiful.

Bethan smiled flatly. She gracefully picked up the cup o f tea and took a sip.

“Granny Morrison, you got me over just to praise me?“ Granny Morrison glared fiercely at her upon her shameless comment.

“Do you think I’m praising you? I’ve never seen such a shameless person!

” Granny Morrison harrumphed.

“How much is Brettley paying you to be his maid?“ Bethan shrugged.

“Not much, about five or six thousand.“

“Five or six thousand.“

Granny Morrison scoffed and placed a check on the table.

“There are a million here. More than enough for you to become Brettley’s maid for a long time!

” She rolled her eyes at Bethan.

“Take this money and get lost!

” Bethan smiled. After all these years, Granny Morrison was still as rude and uncultured as ever. She wondered how such a person got to marry Brettley’s grandfather in the first place. Bethan took the piece of check and looked at it closely. There was humor in her tone as she spoke,

“Who knew that I’d be worth so much?“

“It’s not you that’s worth it. It’s my future granddaughter-in-law that’s worth it!“ Granny Morrison rolled her eyes at Bethan.

“If it weren’t for my granddaughter-in-law coming to me crying, I wouldn’t have known that the photo from that day is real! Brettley has a b*tch like you by his side!

” Bethan narrowed her eyes. Granny Morrison was trying to stand up for Cynthal? How interesting. Previously, when she was the daughter-in -law of the Morrison family, Granny Morrison made things so difficult for her, yet she was protecting Cynthal all of a sudden? At that thought, Bethan lifted her head and eyed the necklace on Granny Morrison’s neck.

“What a beautiful necklace you have.“ Actually, Bethan noticed Granny Morrison’s necklace from the moment she entered. There was only one in the entire world but many imitations. However, one that could be imitated to the extent that looked real was also considered quite rare. Granny Morrison’s necklace was one like that.

“Beautiful, right?“ Granny Morrison harrumphed and proudly lifted her head.

“My future granddaughter-in-law took a long time to find this and bought them for me. There’s only one of a kind in this world!

” Then, Granny Morrison looked at Bethan condescendingly.

“You’re a b*tch who’s only worthy of being a servant. You won’t even be able to touch a necklace like that in your entire life. Don’t you dare have hopes of becoming my granddaughter-in-law! Take the money and leave!”

Bethan picked up the check and looked at it aloofly.

” One million is a lot of money.“
