Serena grabbed the glass of water.

She came in a rush and raced all the way here. Now that she was seated, the thirst started creeping in.

Serena finished the glass of water before asking, “Is Josh around? I want to see him.”

Zack talked about riding on Josh’s coattails to thrive in the company. That was bullsh*t! It was the other way around!

Josh was the CEO’s administrative executive, which meant he was Zack’s administrative executive. Josh knew Zack was married all along.

The receptionists exchanged looks, getting an idea why Serena was here.

“I’ll ask and check if Mr. Bucham has time right now, Ms. Hunt.”

One of the receptionists contacted Josh’s secretary on the intercom while the other suggested Serena try Zack on the phone instead.

Serena was without a word.

Her phone had rung throughout her journey here, but she was not in the mood to take any calls. The phone later stopped ringing, probably because its battery died. Her phone did not have much battery life left, and she did not have time to plug in the charger. News that Zack was Mr. York really messed up her head.

With rage sweeping over her, Serena ran out of her shop and put the pedal to the metal, only to be told Zack was not in the office.

Since Zack was not around, she could get some answers from Josh.

“Get Callum to see me if Mr. Bucham isn’t free.”

Callum was Zack’s brother, so she could question him all the same.

The receptionist on calling duty put down the phone and courteously said to Serena, “Ms. Hunt, Mr. Bucham will see you upstairs.”

She then walked around the desk, leading Serena to the lift. After pressing the button on the lift, the receptionist stayed with Serena instead of letting her go alone.

Once they arrived at the desired floor, the receptionist brought Serena to Josh’s secretary and personally handed her over to the secretary before turning to leave.

“Please come with me, Ms. Hunt.”

Josh’s secretary remained respectful toward Serena.

They approached the administrative executive’s office and knocked on the door. After getting a response from Josh on the other side, the secretary opened the door for Serena and beckoned her to go inside.

“Ms. Hunt.”

Josh was going to ditch work to deliver flowers to Jasmine at the shop and catch the moment of truth between Zack and Serena, but the lady of the hour herself showed up at the office instead.

Jasmine had given Josh a call earlier to say that her ride ran out of juice in the middle of the road. She was trying to push her e-bike back but it was too great of a distance and she did not make much progress either. In the end, she sought Josh for help.

This was the first time Jasmine asked Josh for help. She called him to pick her up. because she could get a ride and offer solace to her best friend.

Otherwise, Jasmine would have called her brother to pick her up instead, and Josh, could kiss the opportunity goodbye.

John beckoned Serena to sit as he paused his plans to pick Jasmine up.

“Would you like anything to drink, Ms. Hunt?”

“No need for that. I want to ask you a few questions. Is Zack the heir of the wealthiest family in the city? Is he your boss?”

After much silence, Josh replied with a question, “Have you seen Mr. York gushing all over his wife in the interview?”

“Gushing all over his wife? More like lying to his wife!”

Serena furiously remarked, “I saw the interview. I can’t believe it’s him!”

Josh carefully examined Serena’s expression. She was upset and livid. Josh silently prayed for Zack and wished him the best.

It would probably take a while before Zack could work out the marriage crisis.

It served him right!

He was the one who pretended to be someone else!

Josh suddenly felt relieved that he told Jasmine who he really was. Sure, it added obstacles to getting the girl, but at least Josh did not have to face the disaster Zack was in.

One wrong move and Serena might just divorce Zack.

Nevertheless, divorce was not an option for Zack.

Josh knew Zack well. Zack was an unfeeling man who saw love as nothing but philosophical. For a detached man to develop feelings for a woman, it was all the love he could ever give a person. Apart from Serena, Zack could not possibly fall in love with another woman.

Serena was everything to Zack, and he could not fathom the thought of losing her. That was why he covered up lies with more lies until he finally owned up today.

Even so, Zack did not fess up directly to Serena. Instead, he decided to go public.

Serena would probably be the last person to know if Jasmine was not so keen on getting gossip about Mr. York.

Zack would go mad if Serena left him, and York Corporation would suffer along with his madness. It would be catastrophic for everybody.

It was not a nightmare Josh wanted to go through.

“Ms. Hunt, what you saw is the truth. Zack is Mr York, the heir of the wealthiest. York family. He’s also the CEO of the company”

Josh was honest.

There should not be any more lies with Serena.

Despite already knowing the truth, Josh’s confirmation drained the color off Serena’s face once more.

Zack was Mr. York. The man Elisa had been in love with for years. The man Elisal publicly professed her feelings to and openly pursued. Serena once helped Elisa to win Zack’s heart.

Serena could not live down the fact that she told Zack she gave ideas to Elisa in her pursuit of Mr. York.

He never gave her anything to doubt him!

That b*stard!

It was just like her dream. He had deceived her all this while. He was a big liar!

“Ms. Hunt, Zack has his reasons to keep his identity from you.”

Josh wanted to watch his best friend crash and burn, but there was a time and place for such things and now was not. He had to stand up for his best friend before Serena divorced him in a fit.

Anyone would be jumping with joy to find out that their husband was the heir of the wealthiest family, which was a 0.001% chance of that ever happening. It was a jump in social status without even trying.

That was not the case with Serena.

She was not the type to climb the social ladder and marry up.

The only thing on her mind was that Zack really had her fooled.

“Ms. Hunt, regardless of the reasons Zack wasn’t honest about who he was, his feelings for you are true. It’s true that he loves you. There’s no doubt about that.”

Serena started laughing until her eyes welled up.

Lifting her arm to rub her eyes, Serena got up and said to Josh, “Thank you for clearing that up for me, Mr. Bucham. I should leave you to your space. Bye.”

Now that Serena got the confirmation she needed, she did not want to spend another second in this place.

Without asking her to stay, Josh rose to his feet and walked out with her. He said, Ms. Hunt, I know you’re in shock and mad right now. Zack did you wrong, but it was with reason. There’s no malicious intention behind his actions. Once you calm down, give him a chance to explain. No matter what, you’re husband and wife.”

Serena was without a word, but her grimacing expression was telling.

Josh went with Serena to the bottom floor and saw her off outside the office building before going to his car.

“Serena.”

Callum was waiting at the entrance of the office building.
