“Why would people criticize him?” Layla took Averie’s words seriously, and she looked sad.
Averie did not know how to explain things to her daughter.

Once the lights were turned off, the room fell into darkness.

“I saw him talking on the phone earlier, then he left,” Tammy said. “Maybe more guests arrived!” Averie lowered her gaze, picked up her phone from the makeup table, and dialed Elyette’s number.
