Chapter 37 – The Moon Wolf

As the ceremony went on, I could only focus on Lola. She looked breath–taking and no one held a candle to her. Her hair. seemed to shine brighter than it normally would.

She soon excused herself and went to get something to drink. I saw Fay going towards her and resisted the urge to leave where I was and snap her n*eck. I wouldn’t hesitate to snap her n*eck if she laid a finger on Lola.

She got to where Lola was and I could see her saying something to her. A low growl left my l*ps and Nathan looked over to me.

“What the fuck has got your panties in a twist now? Can you please concentrate on the matter at hand?” He whispered harshly to me and I snarled at him, making him flinch.

How could he tell me to relax when the devil herself was going towards my mate. Not a lot of people know Fay’s true character because she acts all sweet and charming. Deep down, she’s a power hungry b*tch and would do anything to get her way.

“I’d be damned if I let that b*tch hurt mate. If it means tearing through your skin and taking control, I’d do it“, Daxon growled angrily in my head.

He was right. I couldn’t let anything else happen to Lola. She had already been through a lot if her scars and behavior around people were anything to judge by.

Ignoring the look people gave me and Nathan’s warning, I stormed over to where Fay was talking to a confused Lola. Fay left where Lola was standing when she saw me coming.

Of course, the b*tch knows what she’s doing.

Lola looked more confused after Fay left. I got to where she was and she did not even notice I was standing in front of her till I called out to her.

“Lola?” I said gently. She shook her head and focused her eyes on me, widening her eyes when she realized who I was. “I was just getting water to drink, I wasn’t doing anything I promised“, she rushed out and seemed scared of me.

My heart broke to see that she thought I might hurt her. I had not been a good mate, I know, but I wasn’t going to inflict physical pain on her. I decided to ignore that and ask about Fay.

“What did Fay say to you?” I asked her. “Fay?” She asked in a small, confused voice. Of course, she doesn’t know her name. What was I thinking?

“The woman that left just now. What did she say to you?” I asked again. “Oh, it was nothing. She just gave me advice, that’s all“, she said, looking anywhere but my side. I did not need to listen to her heartbeat to know that she was lying.

“I asked you a question and I demand an honest answer, Lola I said with more authority. I did not want to scare her but I needed to know what Fay said to her.

“S–she told me t–to le–leave you al–l–lone“, she stammered out and I felt rage take over, my b*dy. Without saying another word, I stormed off and went in the direction I saw Fay went.

Who does she think she is to say such to my mate after I had warned her?

Lola’s POV

What was I expecting? I sighed and looked around to see a few people still looking at me. Some were looking at me with pity, some with curiosity and I got a few hate glares too.

I shook it off and walked towards Avianca and the rest of the group. They were looking at me with curiosity too, I just pasted a smile on my face and tried not to trip over my legs as I walked towards them.

“What was that, girl?” Alex was the first one to ask when I reached where they were standing. “What was what?” | feigned curiosity but they were not buying it.

“That that just happened, durhhhhhh. Why was the future Alpha talking to you? He rarely talks to anyone in the pack“, Avianca added and I tried to come up with lies but couldn’t find any.

I was about to talk when Greg spoke up. “Nathan is Lyla’s mate?” He said and everyb*dy’s head whipped to the stage so fast I almost laughed. It’s funny how people lose interest fast.

Loud claps and cheers erupted in the crowd as Nathan and Lyla k*ssed passionately. I felt jealous for a moment but I quickly got over it. Lyla has been nothing but nice to me since I got here, I shouldn’t be jealous she has someone that loves her because I got rejected twice.

I felt eyes on me and looked up to see Greg looking at me. I sent him a grateful smile and he nodded in response. He knew what the relationship between Adrian and I was and that’s why he took the attention of the other people in the group away from me.

Lyla came rushing towards us and held my hands immediately she got to me, she must have seen what happened from the stage.

“Lola and I have something to do right now. How about we meet up with you guys for a group lunch tomorrow or the day after it? We really have to go now“, she hurriedly said and I looked at her in confusion.

We had something to do? How come I wasn’t informed? I was about to question her when she gave me a look that said ‘shut up‘.

“Of course we can meet again some other time. You can go. now“, Greg was the one who spoke. We said a hurried goodbye before we left the group and went towards the pack house.

“We have something to do? How do I not know about it?” I asked her as we moved towards the pack house. She stopped abruptly, making me almost trip.
