Chapter 327 – Second Chance Love of the Missing Groom Novel

Ember’s face turned pale right then.

How could she have forgotten? Zachary had changed! He was no longer the same man from before!

Naturally, she had to save her mother, and so, she held out her hand. “Let me sign it already!”

Zachary’s assistant passed her the divorce agreement, and Ember picked up a pen.

To think that the marriage she had gone through so much for was now at its end.

There was certainly no happiness to be had from coercion!

Now, she felt both spite and regret!

Closing her eyes for a moment, she signed the divorce agreement.

“We will go our separate ways now, Zachary Slate,” she said, throwing the ballpoint pen carelessly on the desk.

Now, she no longer felt love for the man-only hatred for ruining her family.

“Now give me the money you promised!”

“Why should I?” Zachary said, lounging on his couch.

Ember frowned. “You told me that you would give me money if I signed the divorce agreement. Are you breaking your promise?”

“I did.” Zachary did not deny it, but pointed out, “You just didn’t sign it at the time, and the effective period is now over. The money is gone now.”

Ember felt her rage flaring. “You tricked me?”

“Not really. I offered you an opportunity, but you didn’t take it,” Zachary replied, already impatient. “Now get out of here!”

Ember refused. “You have to pay me! My mother is still in the hospital! Her medical bills need to be paid!”

“What does that have to do with me?!” Zachary shot back, and gestured for his assistant to call in security.

Ember was seething, but there was nothing she could do-there was no way she could win against Zachary now.

He could do anything he wanted with her!

The security guards soon arrived, restrained Ember, and dragged her out of Zachary’s office even as she bellowed his name endlessly.

Her voice soon faded from that floor, affording Zachary peace and quiet.

He glanced at the divorce agreement on this desk and rose to his feet.

His cellphone then rang, and he picked it up.

It was a call from Erin Gooding-he had delegated James Cross’s care to her after transferring him to another hospital.

“Hello? J-James just woke up.”

Her thrill was palpable.

Zachary did a double take before realizing what she was saying. “Really?! I’ll be right there.”

He was certainly surprised-James waking up was a miracle!

He drove much quicker than he usually would, arriving at the hospital ward to find James with his eyes opened in his bed!

Walking up and clapping him on the shoulder, Zachary exclaimed, “I thought you’d be sleeping for the rest of your life!”

Then, turning to Erin, he asked, “Have the doctors taken a look at him?”

“They have.” Erin beamed. “There are no issues-he just needs some physiotherapy and he’ll make a full recovery.”

“Leave US for a moment,” James suddenly said. “I need to talk to Zachary.”

Erin was left pouting. “Where’s your conscience? I’ve been taking care of you all this while and you’ve never thanked me! Now, I’m in your way? Watch out, or I’ll beat you up.”

“This is important,” James said feebly. “Please.”

Zachary glanced at James and then at Erin, his lips curling up into a smile.” Yeah, keep flaunting. I’m sure you’re immune to death flags.”

Erin’s cheeks flushed right then and she ran outside in embarrassment.

Zachary sat on James’s bed then and kept teasing, “Alright, now make it quick-I’d really hate to be a third-wheeler.”

Nonetheless, James’s expression suddenly turned grim!

Zachary frowned. “Wait, what are you going to say? Don’t look so serious- you’re spooking me.”

James glared at Zachary. “Be serious.” “I’m very serious,” Zachary replied.

James became quiet for a moment, before saying, “I suspect that Debbie the secretary was the one who orchestrated my accident. We have to tell Mr. Althoff that as soon as possible, and you have to do this for me since I’ve not fully recovered.”

“Debbie?” Zachary had been too busy with his own issues that he had no idea what Diarmuid has been going through lately.

Still, James’s mention of Debbie made him remember what Ember said about Debbie before-could she have been on the money?

“Do you have any proof?” Zachary asked.

James shook his head-he would not be merely suspecting Debbie if he had proof.

“Well, what do you want me to tell Diarmuid?”

“Be wary of Debbie,” James replied with coolness in his eyes .

If he found evidence, she would die by a thousand cuts!

Zachary became serious too. ’Til go right now.”

Still, he had just reached the door when he turned around, having remembered something. “Ms. Gooding had been taking care of you since you were comatose. I can see that she really likes you, so be nice to her- don’t let her down now.”

In reality, James was surprised as well to wake up to Erin’s face.

Naturally, he also thought that he should seriously think about his relationship with her now.

Still, he urged Zachary, “I got it, so get going now.”

Seeing that James has his own considerations, Zacahry did not say more.

Zachary soon arrived at the offices of Twinrise Enterprise, where the entire building knew that Debbie was going to marry Diarmuid.

Naturally, she wanted everyone to know—it would be a waste if she did not stroke her own ego, considering the lengths she went through.

As such, when Zacahry arrived, he did not manage to meet Diarmuid, but ended up finding out about Diarmuid’s engagement with Debbie.

He was puzzled, but did not lose composure like he would before-he could tell now that something had happened.

As such, he quickly dialed Diarmuid’s number and asked to meet. “Where are you? We need to talk.”

He rushed over once Diarmuid gave him an address, and the first thing that he said when he saw him was, “Debbie might betray you. You need to be careful around her.”

Diarmuid looked up slowly with a cool gaze. “What?”

It was far too late to tell him that now!

“Well, James woke up, and he told me that Debbie might be the one who orchestrated his accident, but he has no proof… I was skeptical at first, since she has been working for you for a long while, though when I heard that you’re going to marry her, it’s now obvious that she’s turned on you.”

Diarmuid remained stoic despite hearing that James recovered, but he was relieved inwardly.

After all, it was the first piece of good news he heard for a while now.

Still, Zachary was slightly different-he was not as excitable as before, and much more perceptive to everything around him.

Diarmuid almost had to change his opinion of Zachary after being just days apart.

“How is Abigail doing?” Zachary asked, worried about her just then.

Diarmuid did not answer, but instead asked, “What did the doctors say after James woke up?”

“That he’s fine, he’s healthy-and kicking in a few days,” Zachary said, still concerned about Diarmuid.

Diarmuid was ever overbearing, and yet he was forced to marry Debbie? Whatever compelled him to do so must be a huge deal!

“I’ve been busy lately, but I’ve mostly settled what I have to do. So, is there anything I can help with?”

But right now, there is not much they can do.

They absolutely must not lay a finger on Debbie as long as Tommy has not been cured, and they had to wait for word from Abigail.

Meanwhile, Abigail had begun administering the antidote on Tommy.

Although Stephen Carr had tested the drug on himself and had not suffered any side effects, just as the data had been positive, there was still the individual’s immune system to consider, as a child was more vulnerable.

Hence, Abigail had to keep a constant eye on Tommy after using the antidote, since neither Sheryl nor Mrs. Watson were trained medical professionals.

Abigail was so worried that she cared for Tommy without slacking off at all, or even allowing her eyes to close once.
