Even he had no idea why he was fuming just because she had almost been raped!
“It‘s the man from last time…”
Diarmuid knew who it was even before Abigail finished.
After all, he did run into Harvey when he left Blue Bridge, so he instantly understood what had happened!
There was a terrible storm brewing on his visage as he stormed outside, unable to stay calm when he imagined a scene of Abigail being molested!
He did not like her, but she was still his wife, even if only in name. That was why he would never let another man humiliate or defile her–because it humiliated him as well!
If anyone were to bully her, it would be him!
Stepping out of his mansion, he immediately got into his car, starting the ignition as he called Stan. When Stan answered soon enough, he barked, “Get me Harvey Gooding!”
“… Yes, Mr. Althoff.”
With that, Diarmuid hung up as his car lurched forward, and left the mansion.
Half an hour later, Stan drove Harvey to Light Group‘s offices, even as the latter grumbled, “Why did you tell me to come out so late at night?”
Stan had no idea, but he stayed silent.
“I‘m leaving if you won‘t say a thing!”
Harvey had started to leave, when Stan caught him and said, “Mr. Althoff wants to see you.”
“What for?” Harvey asked, just as Diarmuid‘s car arrived.
Diarmuid alighted right after he parked his car, and strode toward them, his menacing presence unfurling like a storm.
Stan‘s eyes widened. Who had managed to upset him this time?
Suddenly, he turned to glance at Harvey, and backed away two paces.
Harvey turned to look at Diarmuid, and suddenly wanted to stay away from Diarmuid as well.
Still, as soon as he moved, Diarmuid asked, “What were you doing at Blue Bridge?”
Harvey quickly shook his head. “Nothing.”
“Think,” Diarmuid growled , appearing calm just then–but that calmness was skin–deep.
Searching his memory, Harvey then said, “Honestly, nothing. I wanted to kill time at the joint, but ended up meeting Ms. Bernstein from last time… You know I‘ve been searching for her everywhere, so I wasn‘t about to let her off when I saw her at Blue Bridge…” “So? What did you do to her?” Diarmuid asked, his jet – black eyes glinting coldly
Harvey gulped, unsure as to why Diarmuid was so upset.
“I‘d love to do something to her, but she‘s really a wild cat
– see here? She actually bit me!” he exclaimed, extending his hand to show Diarmuid the deep tooth marks.
Abigail had bitten down so hard she drew blood!
“She also hit my nose, and I was bleeding and hurting for a day… Hell, I was just about to ask you where you‘d found her. Honestly, she‘s special… And I think I like her.” Diarmuid glowered. “You like her?!”
Harvey nodded–he really was interested in Abigail, though he could not describe what he liked about her.
Who knows? He might just be stirred by his impulse after being denied twice.
Moreover, the fact that she had wounded him repeatedly makes for a strong memory!
On the other hand, Diarmuid‘s anger eased a little when he found out that Harvey did not manage to have his way with Abigail… but he was furious again to find out that he liked Abigail.
In fact, he was even more furious than before!
“What do you like about her?” he asked, wondering to himself what was likable about that woman aside from cheating in relationships.
“I don‘t know, but one way or another, I want her,” Harvey replied without hesitation.
Diarmuid frowned, feeling as if his possession was being coveted.
“Stay away from her!” he warned sternly, which left Harvey befuddled,
What was going on here?
Feeling like gossiping just then, Harvey asked, “Are you interested in her too, Mr. Althoff?”
Stan was standing behind Diarmuid, and turned toward Diarmuid as well just then–his boss was certainly behaving strangely. What did he really think of Abigail? Nonetheless, Diarmuid looked like he was being utterly serious as he snorted coldly. “Why would I be interested in her?”
Harvey pursed his lips. “Everyone has different tastes – you may not like her, but I do, Mr. Althoff . As long as she isn‘t married, I‘m allowed to pursue her.”
Diarmuid narrowed his eyes, and coldly said, “She‘s married, so don‘t even think about it.”
With that, he returned to his car, leaving Harvey speechless and gaping behind him.
She was married?
Well, it did not matter–everything banked on what Harvey himself did, not to mention that he liked her, and that was enough for him.
At the same time, Stan found the entire situation strange as well – his boss was getting a little too enthusiastic about Abigail, was he not?
Nonetheless, he rushed ahead of Diarmuid and opened the car door for him, greeting, “Mr. Althoff.” There was no mistaking the flames of fury in the man‘s eyes, and even Diarmuid himself noticed that he was getting excessively agitated over Abigail. Still, he soon found an excuse for himself — she was his wife, and he would not allow anyone else to covet her!
It was perfectly reasonable for him to dislike her, but he would never let anyone else touch her!
After all, this concerned a man‘s pride!
He then turned to look at Harvey, who was standing there stupidly. “Don‘t even think about laying a finger on her. If there is a repeat of what happened at Blue Bridge, I‘m not going to hold back.”
Harvey was speechless once again.
Issac was basically throwing Abigail at Harvey‘s lap when they first met, was he not?
Licking his lips, he wondered if Diarmuid had changed his mind and wanted Abigail for himself, which was why he warned him to stay away.
Be that as it may, Harvey would not play along, for he always got the women he desired!
However, after Diarmuid drove away, Stan started to leave as well, leaving Harvey where he stood.
Blinking, Harvey felt like he was missing something
Then, as he started to leave, he realized that he came in Stan‘s car.
How else was he supposed to leave?!
“Stan Hill!” he bellowed.
Stan simply ignored him, and drove away alone!
Back at the mansion, Abigail returned to her room after Diarmuid left, and looked in the mirror to check on the red marks where Diarmuid strangled her.
It fueled her desire to leave sooner, or he would really strangle her to death if she stayed!
Taking a deep breath, she took a shower, intending to go to bed early. She could not rely on her resume now–she should start job hunting by tomorrow.
