He turned around and went straight into the autumn rain that was getting heavier and heavier.

His heart was empty all of a sudden. The feeling of when he lost Niamh three years ago appeared in the bottom of his heart again. It felt as if his heart had plunged into a bottomless abyss.

Nevaeh clenched her fists as she watched Kendrick leave.

She did not expect Kendrick to care about Vera until this extent. He even ignored the safety of his own son so that he could go inside the forest to look for Vera.

“Hmph, it’s good that she’s dead.” Nevaeh gritted her teeth. Then, a sinister smile appeared on her face.

She was so impressed with her decisiveness.

Indeed, the best ending would be Vera dying.

If not, Kendrick would never return to her as long as this woman was alive.

Kendrick looked for her along the steep incline. However, he could not pinpoint where Niamh had fallen from.

He felt as if he was going insane. He could not focus. He could not think nor deduce.

It was as if the rain was falling straight into his heart, interfering with his emotions.

The more time had passed, the more danger she would be in.

Kendrick went back to where Nevaeh was. His handsome face was drenched with rainwater and it was filled with coldness.

At this moment, Nevaeh got out of a car. Eloise had arrived unbeknownst to him. She hurried out of the car to hold the umbrella for Nevaeh.

Nevaeh ran in front of Kendrick and asked, her voice all choked up from crying, “Kendrick, have you found Jack’s body?”

Kendrick’s eyes darkened. There was a fit of intense anger in his eyes. “Body? How are you so sure that Jackson’s dead?”

“V-Vera was the one who admitted this! She told me that she wanted to kill me and Jack so that she’ll be able to have you all to herself,” Nevaeh said confidently, “I didn’t expect her to be so vicious.

However, perhaps she has to suffer the consequences of her bad deeds, so that’s why she fell.”

“Kendrick, are you happy now? You killed your own son for a heartless wh*re!” Eloise accused Kendrick with her eyes red from crying. “My poor nephew. He’s just five and he’s been killed. Jack…”

Nevaeh’s heartbeat accelerated as she cursed in her heart.

She was indeed the one who killed him.

When she thought about that in secret, Nevaeh received a bone-chilling gaze from Kendrick.

“Tell me. Where did Vera fall from?” he asked furiously. The patience in his eyes was diminishing gradually.

“Kendrick, y-you’re still concerned about that wh*re at this moment!”

“Shut up, I’m not talking to you!” Kendrick’s eyes were icy. The brutality in his eyes was getting more and more intense. “If Vera is hurt in any way, I’ll make you sure you get back what’s coming for you twice as much!”

“Kendrick! Kendrick, are you insane?” Nevaeh could not handle this anymore. “You’re ignoring our child’s safety for the sake of a wh*re who stuck her foot into our relationship! You’re so concerned about a

Suddenly, a childish but deep voice called out amidst Nevaeh’s emotional rant.

Nevaeh widened her eyes in shock. She looked at the person who appeared in front of her eyes in disbelief.

Jackson!

He was fine!

“Jack!” Eloise started crying in happiness. “Jack, you’re fine! Thank God!”

Kendrick narrowed her eyes and looked at the tiny figure in the rain.

Jackson’s clothes were drenched and his face was pale. There was a calmness on his doll-like face. However, there was a hint of worry and disturbance in his huge eyes.

Kendrick strode over to him and squatted. “Jackson, you’re fine.”

When he looked into his father’s narrow eyes, Jackson said, “Please save Vera.”

Kendrick’s eyes lit up. “You know where Vera is?”

Jackson nodded. He looked at Nevaeh who was looking frantic at one side. “I saw Mommy pushing Vera down the incline with my own two eyes.”

What?

Nevaeh was flabbergasted when she heard Jackson saying that.

It was fine that the little brat survived, but what did he say? He saw her pushing Vera down the incline?

The rain was pouring outside, but it was not as violent as the storm in Kendrick’s eyes.

Nevaeh saw Kendrick standing up, and there was a layer of frost on his face. The temperature of her body plummeted when she saw that.

“Kendrick, it’s not real. Jack had a misunderstanding!” Nevaeh tried to explain herself. “Vera was the one who wanted to push me, but she fell accidentally. I’m innocent!”

“Nevaeh, don’t be emotional. I believe you!”

Eloise comforted Nevaeh pitifully. Then, she turned around and walked toward Jackson.

“Jack, let Granny see if you’re alright. Vera is so heartless. She even took action against such a young child. Jack, tell Granny how did that woman bully you?”

Jackson frowned, his thick eyebrows knitting together tightly. “Vera is a good person,” he said seriously. Then, he turned to look at his father. “Daddy, go save Vera now.”

Kendrick scanned Nevaeh’s face with a biting cold gaze. There were flames of anger in his eyes, making him look as if he was going to burn Nevaeh alive.

Then, she followed Kendrick and Jackson into the forest. The father and son duo had the same expressions on their faces. They were both worried about Vera.

How was this possible?

Why was that brat okay?

Nevaeh was distraught. However, Eloise was next to her, so she was unable to leave to find out what happened.

She could only curse viciously in her heart. She cursed that Vera was dead after falling down the incline.

A lot of time had passed. Kendrick and Jackson found the spot where Niamh had fallen from, but they could not pinpoint where exactly she was.

“Daddy, give me your phone.”

When Kendrick was feeling agitated, he heard Jackson saying that to him.

He lowered his head and saw that the little guy had a serious look on his face. His eyes held the same worry and anxiety that were in his eyes.

Kendrick naturally trusted Jackson, so he handed over his phone.

After Jackson got the phone, he turned on the GPS and started operating it expertly.

His chubby fingers moved swiftly across the screen. After a while, a glaring red dot appeared on the screen.

It was less than ten meters away from where they were!

When Kendrick saw the joy on Jackson’s initially glum face, he was curious. “Is that red dot Vera’s location?”

Jackson nodded. He then turned around without hesitating while looking at the red dot.

“Let me. You should stay here.” Kendrick stopped him and took back his phone.
