Chapter 180 – Twisted Fate of a Billionaire’s Daughter Undercover

Her mind was a mess, and Ashlyn couldn’t bear the look on his face. Ashlyn’s head lowered as she fixed her jaw and closed the door.

After she sat on the sofa and thought about it for a while, Ashlyn felt her past love for Gordon was like a joke.

She had thought she fell in love with him because of his tenderness. Now she knew the man who had saved her was Devin, not Gordon.

Ashlyn didn’t know whether she should be upset or relieved.

Now that she knew the person who saved her was not Gordon, she could finally move on from him completely.

She had been in love with him but never thought of returning to him after they had been divorced.  There had still been eleven years of her youth she had spent having a crush on Gordon.

Ashlyn had forced herself to let go and move on after the divorce

Even so, there seemed to be something that blocked her heart from healing. She had felt trapped in the situation with no way out.

Logic told her to move forward but her heart held her back.

Now that she knew the truth, she could finally let the past go

Suddenly, Ashlyn’s face stretched in a smile, even as tears fell down her face.

She covered her eyes with her hands and leaned back on the sofa for some time

Ashlyn wasn’t sure how much time passed, but she was brought back to reality when her phone rang

She stood up from the sofa after a moment and looked at the caller ID. Talia’s name was there, and it was then Ashlyn remembered the meeting She massaged her temples before she answered the phone. “Talia, I’m sorry. I have a personal problem I must deal with. Postpone the meeting until this afternoon.”

Ashlyn tossed the phone away after the call and kicked the suitcase next to her by accident.

The suitcase held the cash gift from Devin for her and Gordon’s wedding Ashlyn’s eyebrows raised as she took the suitcase and opened it.

When she revealed the contents of the box, several piles of hundred- dollar bills came into her sight.

Ashlyn was shocked for a few moments; then she couldn’t help but to  laugh. Devin was very generous!

Devin was not doing well either after their conversation.

His anger and stubbornness morphed into pain after what Ashlyn told him. She explained it was only the belief Gordon was her savior that caused her to pay attention to Gordon and subsequently fall in love with him

Devin’s tender and precious love for Ashlyn paved the way for her love and relationship with Gordon.

Was there anyone in the world more stupid than Devin?

No one could be more foolish.

At least Devin thought so.

It took the entire morning for Ashlyn to get her emotions under control, and still she didn’t feel much better.

Anyone who had been through such an ordeal would have felt lost and confused.

She still felt lucky, however.

She knew now that there could be no future relationship between her and Gordon.

It was time for her to put that all in the past.

The obsession in her heart was resolved, so she no longer felt any reason to be hurt by it.

She had chosen the wrong man and her three years of suffering was her penance.

When Ashlyn arrived at the company that afternoon, Talia rapped on the door before walking into her office. The secretary hesitated, even though she had something she wanted to say to Ashlyn. “Miss Ramos?”

Both the Jones family and Crowbar Technologies had announced the remarriage of Ashlyn and Gordon. Neither had mentioned Ashlyn’s pregnancy. Many people believed Ashlyn was pregnant with Gordon’s baby after the release of the announcement.

Ashlyn had learned about it on the way to work. Jessie already sent the announcement to her.

Jessie was sure it was just a rumor, so she cursed about both Gordon and the Jones family over the phone line for a while. She was shocked after

Ashlyn read the announcement and told her it was true.  It all seemed too hard for Ashlyn to explain. The situation was extremely complicated and Jessie was not the type to keep secrets. She decided not to tell Jessie everything and let her wait.

Talia’s voice sounded the same as Jessie’s when she knew about the announcement. Ashlyn answered her question before she could even ask. “It’s true,” Ashlyn said as she smiled. “There’s nothing for you to worry about.”

Talia had a stunned expression. “Miss Ramos, you…”

Ashlyn knocked against the table with a pen and abruptly changed the subject. “Is the ticket booked?”

Talia nodded after her shock wore off just a little. “Yes. Four o’clock tomorrow afternoon.”

“Thank you, Talia.”

“Miss Ramos…”

Talia was still shocked. It was hard to believe that Ashlyn would remarry Gordon.

Ashlyn looked at her. “Do you think I should not remarry Gordon?”

“I know.”

Ashlyn had no concern in her voice as she smiled.

Talia could only stare back at Ashlyn for a moment while she struggled to reply. “Then you…” Ashlyn snorted at her reaction. “You have worked with me for more than eight months. Shouldn’t you know the kind of person I am by now? Anyway, what have you learned about Raina and Arabella?”

The sudden question from Ashlyn left no time for Talia to react.  After a pause, she handed Ashlyn some documents. “I’ve found it out.” Ashlyn looked though the documents. Satisfied, she nodded. “Thank you.” As she looked back up at Talia, Ashlyn saw the secretary’s face was still plastered with uncertainty. She laughed. “Stop worrying. I’m not stupid enough to make the same mistake again.”

“You deserve better.”

Talia finally let out a sigh of relief. Ashlyn chuckled. “Just who is better? Devin?”

Talia teased Ashlyn since she was now relieved. “It seems that you’re very content with him.”

Ashlyn didn’t expect Talia to ask such a question. “You can go to the meeting room before me.”
