Chapter 129 – The Moon Wolf

“We can’t just allow someone else to die in our stead, Jas. She saved us”, I argued. “She also betrayed us”, she snapped. “And came through for us when we least expected it. Be fucking for real, Jasmine”, I shouted through our mindlink.

I held Fay’s hands and closed my eyes after taking a deep breath. I imagined I was in a field that had different flowers. I passed different shades of flowers, which represent different areas of her being and looked around for the one that signifies being joined to another soul.

I found a garden of lotus flowers. There were white lotus flowers but they were being tainted by withered lotus flowers and it was only a matter of time before the remaining lotus flowers wilted away.

I plucked out the wilted flowers and watched them dissipate into thin air. I placed my hands over the lotus flower and watched it become prettier and healthier.

I suddenly felt like my chest was being pricked by a thousand needles and got pulled back into the real world. I took a deep breath and my legs gave out under me, making me fall to floor.

Fay sobbed and trued to reach me but she was held by the doctor. “You are still healing, Fay”, he said but she kept struggling.

I held her hands and managed to stand up. “What did you do, Lola?” She asked. I gave her a weak smile and she shook her head.

“You deserve a second chance, Fay”, I told her while I tried to wipe her tears but she kept on crying. “No, no, I……”, she tried to speak but I shook my head at her.

I felt my energy depleting and left the room on wobbly legs. I slowly made my way through the clinic hallways with the sole aim of locating Serena.

I smelled them before I could see them. Just when my legs couldn’t carry me forward anymore, Adrian caught me before I could fall.

Lyla,Avianca and Nathan were also there.

“Lola, baby, what’s wrong?” Adrian asked me, concern written all over his face. I cupped his face and tried to smoothen his wrinkle.

“You’re going to age fast if you keep frowning like this”, I told him. “What did you do, Lola?” Lyla was the one who asked.

“Come on, not you too, Lyl. It’s not good for the baby”, I reached out my hand to her and she knelt beside me, tears already gathering in her eyes.

“I did what I had to do, guys”, I said weakly, slowly feeling myself slipping away. “Adrian, I…….”, and that was when the darkness took over.

Adrian’s POV

She didn’t finish her sentence before she fainted. I carried her without missing a beat and ran into one of the wards.

“I don’t care what you guys do, bring her back to consciousness”, I barked out using my Alpha tone and all the doctors scurried to work.

I held her hands the whole time and could slowly feel her heartbeat slowing down with every passing moment.

Please stay with me, Lola. Please save her, Selene, I prayed to the moon goddess as she was being attended to. I couldn’t bear the thought of losing her also. It was already heavy for me to have lost my mom because of my carelessness, I wouldn’t be able to handle the thought of also losing her because of my negligence.

After she left the war zone, I had this persistent feeling to follow her and make sure she was okay but I ignored and focused on the bastard in front of me.

“I’m going to kill you, I’m going to kill all of you”, he shouted with a crazed look in his eyes even when it was so obvious that he was overpowered and outnumbered.

Some warriors rushed forward to capture him, but I raised my hands up to stop them. “He’s mine”, I said in a tone that seemed strange to my ears.

Even when he knew he wasn’t getting out of it alive, he had the look of determination in his eyes. That bastard, Daxon snarled in my head, I’ll scoop his eyes and feed them to him.

“I’ll make sure that I burn all of you and your stupid packs to the ground”, he screamed as he ran towards me with the knife he stabbed Fay with.

Just when he was going to stab me, I maneuvered my body to the side and gave him a fatal punch to his throat. He choked on his saliva and waved the knife in all directions. He came at me again but I stabbed him.

He fell to the ground but I kept stabbing him even when he choked on his own blood. I kept stabbing him even when I could no longer hear nor feel him breathing.

For mom. Stab. For my little sis. Stab. For Dad. Stab. For Lola’s parents. Stab. For her little brother. Stab. For everything he has ever done to cause pain to the packs I rule over. Stab. Stab. Stab. Stab.

“Hey, hey man. He’s dead now. It’s over”, Nathan said as he pulled me off him. I looked at his battered body but I wasn’t sated.

“I shouldn’t have allowed him to die easily”, I said as I pulled at the root of my hair. “He deserves a worse and slower death. He deserves to beg to die”.

“It’s over now and your people need you. Rose does too”, he said calmly. That was when I remembered that mom hasn’t been buried yet.

I stood up and cleaned my hands on my clothes, not that it hadn’t been stained initially. “What do we do with the bodies, Alpha?” One of the warriors asked.

“Burn them. Every single one of them”, I ordered. “Where is Lola?” I asked Nathan and he nodded towards the pack clinic.

I was slowly making my way over when I felt her heart rate spike through our mindlink, her energy slowly draining from her.

“Where’s Lyla and Avianca?” I asked as I picked up the pace at which I was walking. “On their way to the clinic. They went there right after Luna left with Serena and Fay.

I nodded my head at him and started running towards the clinic, with him on my heels.

Please, be okay, baby. Please. I pleaded to whatever god was listening. I couldn’t lose another one today, I don’t think I’ll be able to pull through it.

When I got to the clinic, her scent was barely noticeable and that made me even more agitated. Just when I thought I was going to go crazy, I saw Avianca and Lyla coming out of a room.
