Chapter 175 – Twisted Fate of a Billionaire’s Daughter Undercover

Devin had been chasing her for such a long time. He should’ve been ecstatic to know that they were mistaken as a couple. In fact, it didn’t matter if strangers thought that they were together.

There was no need to clarify their relationship to irrelevant people.Perhaps he was just comforting that girl.

Looking at Devin from the corner of her eye, Ashlyn had mixed feelings.

“Is there anything you like?”

“You’re welcome!”

Ashlyn smiled at the girl in front of her.

What a cute and innocent schoolgirl!

The girl then held up the bag in front of Devin.

Devin glanced at the key chain in Ashlyn’s hand and then chose another one for himself. “Thanks.”

He compared his key chain with Ashlyn’s and nodded in approval.”Well, it seems that they’re a good match.”

Ashlyn smiled at him and said, “Like best friend bracelets, but key chains instead.”

Devin’s eyebrow shot up. Then, he laughed. “A best friend will become a boyfriend eventually.”

Ashlyn felt embarrassed.

She wasn’t expecting such a response from Devin.

He was such a witty guy.

Ashlyn didn’t know what to say, so she kept silent. The two of them walked towards the parking lot in complete silence.

Looking down at the key chain in his hand, Devin suggested, “I’m so full from dinner. How about we take a walk?”

As he spoke, he raised his head to look at Ashlyn, his eyes full oftenderness and expectation

Staring into his beautiful eyes, Ashlyn found herself unable to sayno.

Besides, she was full, too. “Okay,” she finally said.

It was pretty late, and there were barely any people out. They walked down the old street alone.

The two walked past old-looking houses. The road was dimly lit,but the moon was full and beautiful tonight.

“Things don’t seem to be going well. Do you need help?”Devin’s words stunned Ashlyn for a moment, She stopped in her tracks and tumed to look at him. “Devin, are you so obsessed with helping others?”

“IF I said that I’m actually heartless with everyone except you, would you believe me?”

Ashlyn raised her eyebrows. “No.”

“Well, you’ll believe it in due time,” Devin replied.

Truth be told, he was not a good man. But he had only ever shown Ashlyn his good side. She didn’t believe him.

But Devin knew that she would see his true colors one day.Understanding Devin’s underlying message, Ashlyn chose to play the fool so as to not make things awkward between them. “So,you’re saying you’re a bad person?”

Devin smiled. “Well, I’ve never said that I’m a good person.”When he said this, he locked eyes with her, momentarily sending Ashlyn into a trance.

It reminded her of the night he asked her to look at the woman.in his eyes.

For a moment, an indescribable emotion surged in Ashlyn’s heart. She knew exactly what that emotion was, but she had just gotten over Gordon. She wasn’t expecting to feel this emotion so soon. After a long silence, Devin added for good measure, “But don’t worry. I will never hurt you.”

Ashlyn found the word “never” unconvincing. She didn’t say anything more about it and changed the topic casually. “I want to go to bed early tonight. Let’s head back.”

“Okay.”

The two headed back to the parking lot.

It was past nine o’clock by the time they made it to Ashlyn’s car.Devin took the wheel this time around. Since Ashlyn hadn’t sleptwell lately, she fell asleep on the way back.

With her eyes half open, she looked at Devin groggily and asked, “What’s wrong? Was there an accident?”

“It’s no big deal. Stay here.”

While he was speaking, Devin unfastened his seat belt and got out of the car.

A gust of wind blew in from the opened car door, which sobered Ashlyn up instantly.

She looked at the two men getting out of the car in front of hers. One of them seemed to be drunk. He staggered up to Devin and was about to push him, but Devin dodged him easily.

The man’s voice was loud and harsh. “Are you blind? Do you even know how to drive? You’re going to pay for this! I want fifty thousand! I won’t let you leave until you pay up!”

As though to prove a point, he pulled out an iron bar from his trunk and pressed it against Devin’s shoulder. “Hurry up and give me the money!”

Seeing this, Ashlyn frowned tightly. She took out her phone to call the police without hesitation.

Just then, three more men got out of the car and surrounded Devin.

Devin cautiously backed up until he was standing next to Ashlyn’s car. Before Ashlyn could dial the emergency hotline, one of the men broke her windshield.

“What the fuck do you think you’re doing? Get out of the car! Now!”

Waving his iron bar menacingly, he tried to open Ashlyn’s door.Devin tried to distract him. “You want fifty thousand, don’t you?Tl give it to you.”

But the drunk man had already seen Ashlyn trying to call the police. “Fifty thousand? I don’t give a shit about the money! Now,get your girlfriend out of the car! Hurry up! Or Ill teach you a lesson!”

One of the men next to the drunk man nudged him and hissed,”Come on, let’s just take the money and leave. Don’t get us into trouble!”

“Who cares about the money? This stupid bitch wanted to call the police. We must get her out of the goddamned car! She deserves to be punished! I’ll beat the shit out of them!” SantosPotter, the man with the iron bar, roared.

Devin looked back at Ashlyn in the car and said in a low voice,”Stay there. Don’t get out.”

As soon as he finished speaking, the man in the lead raised his iron bar above his head and smashed the car window violently.Ashlyn had never met such a rude and unreasonable person in her life.
