Chapter 44 – Second Chance Love of the Missing Groom Novel

If she had drunk that water instead, and that man had been in this ward… she did not. even want to think about what would have inevitably happened.

With that in mind, her gaze turned icy.

Still, she searched her memory and remembered that Diarmuid was being neutral toward Whitney right now… Was it because they had inadvertently stumbled upon Whitney messing around with another man?

And since it was obvious Whitney was trying to set her up again, there was no reason for her to hold back!

“Oh, who’s this? Could he be your boyfriend? Honestly, you’re so popular with men…

Hooking up with them left and right even if they’re ugly, or do you need glasses to fix your eyesight?” “What are you talking about? Don’t you try to slander me!” Whitney cried, stopping short of jumping at her and cursing. Then, quickly turning to Diarmuid, she explained, “Please don’t misunderstand – he’s just a patient, not my boyfriend. In fact, I never had a boyfriend!” Abigail promptly turned towards Diarmuid by the time Whitney was finished, since she and Diarmuid had both seen evidence to the contrary.

Now that Whitney was denying that, what would Diarmuid think?

Naturally, Diarmuid’s expression turned sinister!

At the same time, Abigail understood why his attitude toward Whitney was constantly changing-he must not have been aware that Whitney had a boyfriend when they started going out!

After he found out, he felt disdain toward her, but was also unable to let go of past sentiment.

That was why he had that hot and cold attitude toward Whitney.

Still, given present circumstances, Abigail simply added fuel to the fire. “Who was that boy who chased you around in med school… Chad Ross, was it? Didn’t you agree to date him?”

Things were certainly spiraling out of control for Whitney-her attempt to ensnare Abigail was foiled, and she was now instead the target in the crosshairs.

Her spite was certainly killing her!

“What, don’t you remember how many boys were chasing me back then? Did you really think I could say yes to everyone?”

“Oh…” Abigail murmured, deliberately letting her voice trail off because Diarmuid clearly knew better.

And yet, Whitney was fervently denying everything, which would only make Diarmuid question her character even more.

That was what Abigail was going for-Whitney was hopelessly infatuated with Diarmuid, but by driving a wedge between them, she would have avenged her lost child.

“Get out!” Diarmuid bellowed right then.

Whitney bit her lip, but pleaded, “Diarmuid…”

“Didn’t I tell you never to use my name?!” Diarmuid’s eyes flashed with inconsolable rage just then.

With that, Whitney did not dare to say another word, and reluctantly left the ward.

Once she was out of sight, Abigail began to pull her arms away from Diarmuid, but that was when Diarmuid caught her wrists and asked, “Are you happy now?”

“You mean, for causing trouble in paradise?” Abigail did not deny it. “Of course I am.”

Yes, she could never get a read on the actual relationship between Diarmuid and Whitney, but she was not bothered.

All she needed to know was that Whitney was head over heels for Diarmuid, and the fact that she was staying around Diarmuid would piss Whitney off.

Knowing that alone was enough.

On the other hand, Diarmuid loved her honestly, and he swiftly wrapped his arms around. her and pinned her against the bed.

Abigail panicked right then, and her speech turned to a stammer. “W-What are you doing? This is the hospital! You’re going to be caught in a scandal if anyone sees you!”

Diarmuid grinned. “Are you saying that we can do it anywhere but the hospital?”

“That’s not what I mean!” Abigail promptly denied it-in fact, she would never do it with him wherever they were!

Everything she said just now was just to upset Whitney!

On the other hand, Diarmuid was looking with eyes flaring with desire, but he was restraining himself.

Though the drugs were in effect within his body, he did not completely lose his rationality he was actually using it as an excuse to breathe in her scent!

As for Abigail, she could tell from his hoarse voice that his throat was dry and the drugs. were messing him up. “You’re not going to do it with a woman who had another man before, are you?”

She had long since observed that Diarmuid was a prideful man.

His ego would not suffer any disgrace, and he was as demanding toward himself as he was toward his other half.

That much was obvious from how he treated Whitney-the instant he realized he had. been deceived and that she was messing around with another man, she was abandoned immediately.

Naturally, her words left Diarmuid pausing, and he closed his eyes for a moment to hide his troubled gaze.

Then, his tone became icy. “You don’t have to keep reminding me that your body is filthy.”

Abruptly rising to his feet, he left the ward.

Outside, Whitney had not actually left, and she naturally breathed a long sigh of relief when she saw Diarmuid step out. At the same time, she realized that she had a spark of hope-Diarmuid was drugged, and she believed herself to be beautiful. If she displayed her womanly wiles right now, she would definitely be able to entice Diarmuid.

Assuming a gait as if she was on a catwalk, she approached him and said, “Let me drive you home.”

Diarmuid shot her an ice-cold glare right then. “Whitney Cox, when I decided against holding you responsible for faking your pregnancy, I was already at the limit of my mercy. After what you did tonight, there are no more chances for you now-even after that night we shared.” With that, he strode off, leaving Abigail in the ward.

She heard everything Diarmuid was saying at the doorway. Whitney was actually trying to deceive Diarmuid by faking her pregnancy? She pursed her lips-it was apparent how much Whitney wanted to take her place, only for everything to turn out to be the exact opposite of what she wanted.

Now that Diarmuid knew, there was no way they could be in a relationship, and he basically just declared they were breaking up.

Walking to the door, she found Whitney, whose face was alternating with a myriad of expressions.

Likewise, Whitney saw her-it was her most miserable moment, seen by her worst enemy.

Humiliation turning to rage right then, she snapped, “What are you looking at?! I’ll dig your eyes out of those sockets!”

Abigail simply smiled and said nothing. It was barenaked contempt, and it left Whitney shaking with rage, and she jumped toward Abigail, ready to tear her pretty cheeks apart!

But before she could reach Abigail, Abigail warned her, “There are cameras here. Touch me, and I’ll send the footage to Diarmuid.” Whitney utterly lost it then, and shrieked loudly without control! Abigail simply leaned against the door, watching without a care.

It was tremendously cathartic to see Whitney, who was head over heels for Diarmuid, having all her affection spurned!

Abigail stroked her belly, and in her mind, she told her lost child, ‘See? The one who hurt you is receiving her just deserts.’ Closing the door behind herself, she sat on her bed and glanced at the glass of water Diarmuid drank.
