If Zachary was distracted by Vivian, he probably would not have time to manage Lulu.
“It’s time, Abigail,” Diarmuid suddenly said.
Abigail rose to her feet too. “We’re going now, Lulu.”
Lulu got up too. “I didn’t even bring you a drink…”
“No, you keep both arms on your daughter.” Abigail smiled. “So, do you think we can have our tots betrothed to each other?”
Lulu shot her a look. “Your son’s still a boy, and you’re looking for a daughter-in- law already? You really do want to get old quicker, huh?”
Abigail sighed. “I’m jobless. What else can I think about other than some random stuff?”
Lulu could actually tell that Abigail was a little less energetic since she had not been working.
People usually could not see what women did for their families.
It was not the middle ages, where only women with careers would be more vibrant.
Still, she and Abigail had lost their past selves and now lived for their children.
Lulu checked her phone at around 4 PM-Zachary had not called, and it was probably because he was busy.
She put Star in her crib-she did not feel lonely just by standing next to Star.
She made milk for Star, who was sharp enough to drink by herself.
Lulu could not help patting her little head-Star was building up an appetite, and she just needed a couple of bottles of milk for each other.
Lulu would replace the rest of Star’s diet with other food so that she could wean Star off milk sooner.
Still, while she was pondering over her baby’s diet, her phone started ringing, jolting her to her senses.
It was Zachary.
“Mr. Slate,” Lulu greeted him as she answered and leveled the phone camera on Star.
“I only have one hour, Ms. Jones… Did someone visit you?”
Lulu’s heart skipped a beat, surprised that Zachary would check the cameras even though he was very busy. “Yeah, it’s an old friend who dropped by to check on me.”
“Hey, Star! Did you miss Daddy?” Zachary then called out to Star.
Seeing his baby drinking fervently, Zachary suddenly felt hungry since he had not eaten.
“Vivian will be dropping by later to deliver a document.”
“Okay, I understand.”
The doorbell rang again even as they spoke, and Lulu knew right away it would be Vivian.
Lulu took it and started to close the door…
“Hey, wait! Vivian shoved her foot on the door to stop her and pulledet up a huge bag. “Didn’t Mr. Slate say I could come by to help Cann bstay e here?”.
Lulu did not know what to say and spoke to Zachary about it.
Zachary had wanted Lulu to speak up and refuse, but Lulu would never overreach.
Hence, after Zachary stared at Lulu for a few beats, he said, “If you don’t saidད་
mind, you can let her stay and be an eyesore.”
While Lulu was left speechless, Vivian only heard the part where she could stay.
“Sorry for imposing.” She smiled and left to get a room.
Noticing that Lulu was staying closest to Zachary’s room, she said, “I take this room!”
Lulu made an awkward look-she had just moved all her belongings in there, and she did not have time to clean up again since she had to take care of Star. Still, she saw Vivian’s enthusiastic glare and finally noticed that her room was closest to Zachary’s.
However, Lulu only picked it because it was close to Star’s room, so she could take better care of Star.
“Can I stick to this room?”
“No way I like this room. What, are you fighting with me over this?”
How dare a babysitter refuse her!
Vivian dragged her luggage case back to the living room to complain!
“Mr. Slate, I want Ms. Jones’ room. It’s close to the living room so I can clean up better,” she cried miserably, playing up her vulnerable maiden act.
Lulu stood behind her, exasperated-men would always go along with women when they did that.
Youth and beauty were their greatest weapon.
She could not lecture Vivian either-she was just resorting to cheap moves to get what she wanted.
Lulu just did not care about those things!
Hence, she kept quiet and played along, going to her room to clean up.
In the end, she still had Star to worry about, and Vivian could hurt her if she and Vivian started a fight.
Naturally, Zachary could see Lulu heading back to her room from the video and frowned.
Judging from what Vivian had said earlier, Lulu had been unwilling to give up her room… but she changed her mind?
Why?
Zachary pursed his lips and scowled, but he decided that since Lulu was so generous and submissive, he did not mind playing along. “She’s moving out, isn’t she?” he said. “You can take the room.”
Vivian beamed at Zachary when she saw Lulu drag her suitcase outside, but Zachary ignored her and coolly said, “You’ll be helping out with housework for a while. I’ll pay you for it.”
“Glad to help, Mr. Slate.”
An hour soon passed, and Zachary knew that her time was up.
He watched Star for a while before turning away to look for Lulu by habit.
She never showed up, and he hung up, scowling.
On the other hand, Vivian was already outside Lulu’s room, ready to bring her down a peg as she puffed herself up, as if she owned the place.
“Mr. Slate told me to help with housework, but we’re different!”
However, she was surprised to see that Lulu had already decorated her room, and a photo caught her attention.
Vivian strode in for a better look, but Lulu blocked her and started to push her outside.
“Hey! Don’t push me!” Vivian snapped, but Lulu had already pushed her outside and locked her door.
“Do not enter my room.”
Vivian stamped her feet and turned away. “Hmph! Quit acting like you have some treasure in there!”
Still, Lulu breathed a sigh of relief as Vivian stormed off.
She did not have time to clean up everything she moved over to her et new room, and Vivian almost noticed the photo of her rightafter giving birth to Star.
Picking up her phone, she saw that m the video call with Zachary earlier ve was already past an hour.
