“I, uh…” Zachary quickly wrapped the towel around himself again as he explained, “Your handbag caught my towel. So…” Lulu ran off frantically, grabbed her phone before running out of Zachary’s mansion without opening her eyes.
In Zachary’s perspective, she was fleeing.
“It’s not like I’m naked…” he muttered, although he was blushing up to his ear.
On the other hand, Lulu kept running for a long while before stopping.
“Oh, I slipped up… Well, at least he won’t be there tomorrow.”
It was no big deal, but she just found the situation and the vibes strange.
As she calmed down, she wondered if she had overreacted.
She was a babysitter, and he was her employer…
She turned on her laptop and saw an email invitation to a Franconian nutritional association forum to exchange childcare experiences.
She always read such emails and recorded everything, while occasionally offering her input.
She sat for a long while, and her hip was sore by the time it was over.
Stretching her back, she was going to take a shower when her phone jingled with a notification.
She picked up her phone to see a text from Abigail.
[Diarmuid and I are coming back.]
[That’s good. When?]
Lulu replied instantly, while Abigail and Diarmuid traded glances on their flight.
She flashed a sly smile and quickly typed: [In a couple days.]
Lulu suspected nothing. [Got it. I don’t know if I could make time to receive you, though.]
[You don’t have to.]
When Lulu arrived at Zachary’s mansion the next day, her carry her things neither of them mentioned happened the previous As if having a tacit get swnoet “I’m going now,” Zachary said when everything was done.
Lulu nodded, her gaze evasive.
“I’ll be keeping my phone with me constantly,” Zachary added.
“Okay, thank you.”
Zachary actually had more to say but kept quiet as he left.
Lulu looked on as he drove away and closed the door.
It was just her in the mansion now.
She made sure to feed Star first before cooking herself a quick meal.
However, she did not have more than a few bites when Star began to cry.
“Oh, baby. What’s wrong?”
Lulu was concerned-Star would not usually bawl like that.
However, she was just fine even as she felt her little forehead. Ding-dong!
The doorbell rang just then, and Lulu had no choice but to answer it.
She did a double take when she saw who it was.
“What are you doing here, Abigail?”
Lulu never expected her and Diarmuid to show up so soon, even though sheet twe was coming! And she said said two days!
Abigail winked at her. “I missed you, so I wanted to surprise you.”
Lulu snorted. “Surprise or jumpscare?”
Ignoring her, Abigail craned her neck to look inside. “Where’ Zachary?” the “Not here,” Lulu replied.
“Where did he go?” Abigail asked.
“Trouble at work,” Lulu replied and stood aside. “Come in.”
Suddenly, she hesitated. “If I let you in…”
“Easy. Just say I barged in,” Abigail joked.
Lulu nodded. “The air outside is good. Wait here.”
Lulu hurried to Star’s room, putting her down to make sure she did not dirty her diaper, and was comfortable with it.
Everything was fine, so she held Star in her arms and gently walked her.
Star’s slowly stopped bawling and after calming her down, Lulu smiled at Abigail. “Let’s talk out in the garden.”
Star seemed exhausted after crying and leaned against Lulu’s shoulder as she carried Star to the garden.
Abigail smiled even as she stared at Star’s little cheeks, which were just fleshing out.
She loved daughters but regrettably had none.
“Let me carry her,” she said.
“Didn’t you just touch down? You should rest,” Lulu said, having a hunch that Abigail was already in flight when she texted her. “I’m fine,” Abigail said.
Diarmuid left to take a call, leaving smoothly to let the ladies spend some quality time.
“You really came as soon as you said you’d come.” Lulu shook her head disapprovingly.
Abigail had her own children to take care of but would not be tired since she had her mother and Mrs. Watson’s help.
On the other hand, Lulu would certainly have a hard time doing everything by herself.
“Well, Diarmuid has work stuff that must be handled in the country. I came with him, but mostly to see you.”
More importantly, Abigail wanted to check out how Lulu was doing at the moment, though she must admit she was relieved to see her in this state. “Then when are you leaving?” Lulu asked.
Abigail rolled her eyes she had just arrived, and Lulu wanted her gone already?
“That’s not what I mean!” Lulu quickly said, worried that Abigail would misunderstand.
“I know. Anyway, I’ll be leaving tomorrow night.” Abigail smiled, looking Lulu in the eye and holding her hand firmly. “Also, I’m happy to see you doing well now. I’m relieved to see you like this.”
At the very least, Lulu was able to live her days in peace.
Lulu nodded and told Abigail about Zachary.
“There are cameras all over the house. He wasn’t like this before, y’know?”
That was why Lulu rather chatted outside with Abigail-once Zachary saw the footage and realized she knew Abigail, her cover would be blown.
“It’s only right for him to be careful.” Abigail smiled. “He’s a dad now.”
At her words, Lulu remembered Star peeing on Zachary and could not help smiling.
Abigail saw that and teased, “Wow, that’s one beautiful smile. What’s on your mind? Is it about Zachary?”
Lulu was left speechless and shaking her head. “I’m just thinking about Row adorable Star is. My daughter is the only one who can make me smile.”
Abigail pinched Star’s tiny cheeks just then.
She would love such an adorable daughter with such rosy cheeks too, but she just was not lucky enough to have one herself.
“You’ve been staying with Zachary for so long, and he never noticed m anything strange?” Abigail asked, staring at Lulu.
“You really can’t stop going on about it, huh?” Lulu@ighed. “We’re just employer and employee-he’s busy with work and usually won’t be home ve uptil very late at night. I have plenty of freedom here, and I’m able to take care of Star every waking moment. There’s nothing inconvenient, and…”
Lulu then remembered last night. Frowning, she thought about Zachary’s behavior.
He probably did not suspect a thing, since he was keeping Vivian Crowe around.
And to be fair, having a woman around him was good.
