Chapter 59 – Twisted Fate of a Billionaire’s Daughter Undercover

In the past, Ashlyn would have looked hurt over Arabella’s words. But this time was different. Ashlyn not only found her words irrelevant but also mocked her in return.

Arabella was stunned when she heard Ashlyn’s words. For a while, words failed her. When she came back to her senses, she said, “You are more confident now, Ashlyn.”

Arabella looked up and saw the elevator doors open with a ding. She saw Gordon coming out and looked back at Ashlyn. “Now, let’s see who Gordon will believe.”

After speaking, Arabella raised her hand as though she wanted to slap Ashlyn. Ashlyn raised her eyebrow and grabbed her wrist immediately.

The next second, Arabella slapped herself in the face.

Ashlyn’s jaw dropped as she saw Arabella’s bloodshot eyes. She thought Arabella must be crazy.

If Arabella had gone into acting, she would have made a good actress.

“Ashlyn, why did you hit me?” Arabella asked.

She had slapped herself so loud that it caught the attention of those around them.

Gordon also heard the sound of the slap and his face went cold. He hastened his steps toward Ashlyn and Arabella. Ashlyn was confused initially, but when she traced Arabella’s gaze and turned her head, she saw Gordon walking toward them with a cold gaze.

Immediately, she understood why Arabella slapped herself.

Ashlyn laughed at her stupidity. When Gordon arrived, Ashlyn quickly raised her hand and slapped Arabella on the other side of her cheek. She turned toward Gordon afterward and said with a soft grin, “Yes, I slapped her.”

After a brief silence, she added, “Are you going to slap me on her behalf?”

Gordon’s face was as dark as ink.

Arabella, on the other hand, was dumfounded.

She couldn’t believe that Ashlyn just slapped her.

And she did it right in front of Gordon.

The slap made Arabella face sting, and the buzz in her ear wouldn’t stop. Noticing that everyone was looking at her, she gritted her teeth and said to Gordon, “Don’t blame Ashlyn. It’s just a slight misunderstanding.”

Ashlyn was tired of Arabella’s hypocrisy. In the past, she had hoped that Gordon would believe her instead of Arabella, but now, she didn’t give a damn about what he would think.

Ashlyn flashed her a wicked smile. “No, Arabella. I slapped you simply because I don’t like you. We didn’t have any misunderstandings.”

After saying that, she walked away from them and headed toward Talia.

Arabella watched Ashlyn walk away in disbelief. It wasn’t until Ashlyn’s figure disappeared from her view that she turned to look at Gordon, who was standing beside her. “Ashlyn… just left?”

However, Gordon simply withdrew his gaze.

He glanced at Arabella coldly and then left without saying anything.

Arabella was about to say something in an attempt to sow discord between Gordon and Ashlyn, but Gordon just left like that.

Ashlyn slapped her and then left. And Gordon didn’t even bat an eyelash.

Arabella raised her hand and touched her right cheek, which was red and swollen from Ashlyn’s slap. As soon as she touched it, she couldn’t help but wince in pain.

She wondered if Ashlyn was crazy.

Of course, Ashlyn was by no means crazy. She had wanted to slap Arabella for a long time now.

Back when Ashlyn was still part of the Jones family, she and Arabella were sisters-in-law. Arabella and Denise always liked to gang up against Ashlyn.

Denise was not a clever woman. She used to make things difficult for Ashlyn in a very direct way and then complain to Nathaniel. Although she was constantly being scolded by Nathaniel as a result, Ashlyn didn’t really suffer any losses.

But Arabella was different. She was a real scheming bitch. With just a few words, she managed to convince Nathaniel that Ashlyn wasn’t worthy of being a Jones.

To begin with, Nathaniel was never satisfied with Ashlyn, whereas Arabella had married into the Jones family two years earlier than Ashlyn, so he naturally trusted in Arabella more.

Not long after Ashlyn joined the Jones family, she suffered a lot thanks to Arabella. On one occasion, Denise slapped Ashlyn, but it was Arabella who cried pitifully, claiming that it was all her fault, which made Ashlyn look like the bad guy.

Just now, Ashlyn didn’t understand at first why Arabella slapped herself. But when she saw Gordon, she knew why.

Wasn’t this Arabella’s usual scheme?

She was always like this. Whenever she was alone with Ashlyn, she showed her true colors. But once someone else was around, she would immediately play the victim.

In the three years when Ashlyn was Gordon’s wife, she had confronted Arabella so many times that she had already figured out the latter’s schemes. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have been able to capture so many audio recordings that proved Arabella was a scheming bitch.

One couldn’t reason with someone like Arabella. She always evaded the blame and somehow managed to shift the blame onto the real victim.

Sheer force was the only way to deal with Arabella.

So Ashlyn chose to slap Arabella in front of Gordon without hesitation.

She just wanted to do it, so she did.

After all, what could they do to her?

Slap her back?

Would they dare?

Looking out the car window at Gordon, who walked away with a cold face, Ashlyn sneered.

She used to be incredibly naive. She used to think that Gordon would come to love her if she continued to be a good and meek wife.

Unfortunately, Gordon wasn’t as smart as she thought.

Ashlyn withdrew her gaze and said in a low voice, “Let’s go.”

The car started slowly. Ashlyn leaned against the backrest, a smile tugging at the corners of her lips.

Indeed, slapping that bitch felt good.

She found herself hoping that another opportunity would arise the next time she saw Arabella.

She wouldn’t lose anything by slapping her a second time.

Since Arabella liked to pretend to be aggrieved, then Ashlyn would give her a reason to feel aggrieved.

Talia, who was sitting next to Ashlyn, stole a glance at the latter and was about to ask if she was okay. However, when she saw the smile on Ashlyn’s face, she knew that Ashlyn was just fine.

Indeed, before she became Stevie’s secretary, she used to think that his daughter was like a princess who had never been out of the castle, delicate and naive.

But when Talia started working for Stevie, she realized that Ashlyn was not a delicate princess, but a cool and collected queen.

In the three years Ashlyn wasn’t talking to Stevie, Talia had heard a lot about her from Stevie.

At the time, Stevie might’ve been angry with his daughter because he thought Ashlyn was acting too willfully, so he often ranted to Talia about her. But in the end, he always sighed and said, “What a willful girl!”

Before Talia came to work for Ashlyn, she had a very vague image of Ashlyn. If what Stevie said was true, Ashlyn was a domineering queen and would never let anyone bully her.

But now that Talia had spent a lot of time with Ashlyn, she finally had a better image of who this woman truly was.

Ashlyn was indeed different from other ladies. Although she was spoiled by Stevie and Vivien growing up, that didn’t mean she was naive and gullible. In fact, her way of doing things was even similar to Stevie’s.

But it was true that Ashlyn had suffered a lot in her marriage to Gordon.

So every time Ashlyn ran into the Jones family, Talia couldn’t help but worry that Ashlyn would get hurt.
