It was not easy for her to get away from that place, and now, Vivian was forcing her to go back?!
“Ms. Crowe,” she said, gulping. “That woman is just a nanny. Mr. Slate loves and cares most for his daughter, so you should work on his daughter instead if you want him-“
Before she could finish, Vivian shot her an icy glare.
“What?” Vivian asked with an edge in her voice. “Are you trying to tell me what to do?”
The man holding Erma tightened his grip over her neck, and Erma promptly shook her head after being strangled for a moment. “I’ll go! I’ll go today!”
Viivan nodded, hearing a satisfying answer. “Good!”
She gestured for the man to release Erma and brandished a debit card at Erma. “I’ll pay you double once you get it done!”
After the pair were gone and only Erma was left, her brow furrowed even as she kept rubbing her neck.
The man was so strong he could snap her windpipe in half if she did not say yes!
“It took me so much to get out… and now she wants me to go back in!” She took out her phone-it was past 1 PM, and the baby should be napping right now!
“Whatever!” She stamped her feet angrily, remembering the money Vivian offered. “It’s for the money anyway. I can do this!”
With those words, she hurried to that familiar neighborhood.
Zachary’s house was located in an expensive district, and there were security guards at the entrance. However, since Erma had been working there for a while, they did not stop her.
She arrived downstairs without any issue and just happened to see Lulu.
Luna was sleeping the whole morning since she did not sleep well last night, and Lalu did not sleep well not dare to venture outside when there was nobody in the house.
Luna eventually opened her eyes in the afternoon. Lulu hence decided to carry her out for a grocery funsinde they were lacking necessities.
However, she had just gotten downstairs when she saw a suspicious figure nearby. The content.

“Who are you?” Lulu shielded Luna in reflex when she remembered the shadow.
Luna babbled softly but did not cry.
“Hello…” Erma greeted her since she could not hide now. “Remember me, miss?” The content is
Lulu stared warily at the woman. “You’re the maid from before, aren’t you?”
She did not let down her guard even though she recognized Erma- why would Erma return after she was gone?
Moreover, considering how impatiently Erma treated her baby, Lulu’s expression became stern as well. “Didn’t Mr. Slate tell you not to come anymore? What are you doing here?”
“Hello, miss,” Erma said fawningly. “May I ask for your name? And you don’t look that old… Others might think you’re the mother with your pretty face—”
“Shut up!” Lulu suddenly snapped, cutting Erma short.
She was surprised by her own reaction, despite knowing that Erma’s flattery was exaggerated.
Nonetheless, she calmed down, realizing she had lost her composure there.
“This is my employer’s baby. Why would she be related to me?” Lulu demanded, rearing her head. “I was an hired employee like you, and if you have a problem, take it up with Mr. Slate-not me!”
She more or less understood from Erma’s fawning that Erma wanted her to talk to Zachary.
Even if she was not Luna’s mother, she would not allow such a heartless woman to hang around a baby!
Erma was promptly angered when she realized that Lulu was refusing to side with her. Since fawning would not work, she had to use moral coercion.
“How could you be so unreasonable?” Erma cried. “Looks aside, we’re all just employees. I’m sure you understand how difficult a life can be. My children aren’t working yet and I still have elderly to take care of, so they are all counting on me! Are you trying to kill us all? Moreover, everything you saw wasn’t the whole story -I tried to coax the baby to sleep before you came, but I just lacked experience and didn’t notice she was sick! Can’t you be understanding? What’s the big deal anyway? You could just teach me! And with me around, I could take care of the housework while you focus on the baby! It would be easier for you!”
Erma tried to walk up and take Lulu’s hand, but Lulu avoided her she despised people who would resort to moral coercion.
“It’s like I’ve said!” Lulu snapped, slowly and clearly as she looked in Erma’s eyes. “Go to Mr. Slate. I’m just a child care worker he hired—I can’t decide for him!”
With those words, she started to leave-she was going to buy a stroller to take Luna on strolls when Luna was older.
She could buy some pure cotton clothes along the way as well, since a baby’s skin is delicate and pure cotton is ideal.
However, Erma planted herself on the concrete when she saw that Lulu was leaving. She then wrapped her left hand around Lulu’s right and anchored herself with a brick on the right!
“How could you be so cold?!” Erma cried. “It was an accident! How was I supposed to know the baby had a to fever? M. Slate was the one who promised to get a babysitter and that I would just be helping for a while! Was that so wrong?!”
It was noon, and the apartment was quiet until Erma’s outburst, causing several people to gawk at them!
“What are you talking about?!” Lulu snapped as she tried her best to pull her leg away, but she could not overpower the woman when she was carrying Luna too!
Erma started bawling right then. “Please, I’m begging you! I really can’t lose this job, or my family would die! We’re all employees-from now on, you take care of the baby, and I’ll take care of the housework! Can’t we make this work?!”
As the occasional people who passed by stared at them, Lulu took a deep breath and stopped struggling.
Looking down at the hysterical Erma, she asked, “Could you stop embarrassing yourself? This is where Mr. Slate lives-the people living around this apartment are either rich or powerful. Are you sure you want to keep this up?”
Erma did a double take at that, and Lulu promptly seized the moment to pull her leg out of Erma’s grasp.
Seemingly startled, Luna started bawling in her arms, and Lulu promptly patted her back, coaxing, “It’s alright, it’s alright!”
Once Luna quieted down, she turned around toward Erma.
“I’d encourage you not to do this, since Mr. Slate would never suffer the likes of you. Don’t hope that I’ll get a good word in for you either-I’ll treat you the way you treated Mr. Slate’s baby.”
Lulu might actually have helped if Erma would talk this out calmly. But given the way Erma just freaked out? Lulu would die than let a woman like her around her baby!
“Oh, by the way…” Lulu added, turning around before she left, “Everyone in this apartment is rich. You could’ve gotten another job with your resume, but they would know about you after you freaked out like this. I’d advise you to never show up again!”
With that, Lulu left with Luna.
Watching her go, Erma was left incensed as she got to her feet, and spat, “Who do you think you are?! A mere babysitter, thinking you’re the lady of the house just because you’re paid? You’re not the baby’s mother, y’know!”
However, she remembered the last thing Lulu told her before she left. Even as everyone nearby shot her looks of disdain, she strode off in silence, hesitating for a while before calling Vivian since she had failed to persuade Lulu.
Vivian just happened to be sorting out some documents near Zachary and promptly covered the screen when she saw the familiar number. “What’s wrong?” Zachary noticed Vivian behaving strangely, covering her phone as if worried someone else would see it.
“It’s just a prank call. It’s nothing…” Vivian got up, looking embarrassed. “I’m going to finance now to ask for this quarter’s report!” Zachary did not suspect anything, and nodded.
Vivian hurried out of the door and turned into a corner. Looking around to make sure there was no one else around, she called Erma, snapping as soon as Erma answered, “What’s your problem?! Why did you call me during working hours?!”
Fortunately, Zachary was not w suspicious-if he knew she wasm secretly in deague with Erma, he would suspect something!
“I’m sorry! I’m so sorry!” Erma apologized repeatedly and explained, “But I spoke to the babysitter as you suggested, Ms. Crowe… And she refused to speak on my behalf!”
Vivian almost had a stroke at those words. “Can’t you grow a brain?!”
