Diarmuid loosened his necktie and threw it nonchalantly on the desk. “What are you doing here?”
Abigail eagerly strode forward and wrapped her arms around his waist. “I just wanted to see you. Am I not allowed to do so?”
Diarmuid gently lifted her chin. “Is that all you really want?”
Why did he have a hard time believing that?
Abigail certainly came to him because of Lulu, and she wanted to take a trip over to Minerva.
Now, however, she had another cause for concern.
Even if she did have faith in Diarmuid after going through thick and thin together, she could not trust him blindly either and disregard the consequences.
As for the man himself…
She studied him just then.
He was a successful businessman, who was tall, dark, and handsome -and the epitome of all fantasies women had toward men!
Her friend was important, but so was her family-she refused to let her sons lose her father!
“I didn’t just come to see you-II missed you,” she purred coquettishly, tightening her arms around his waist while her dainty fingers fiddled with his collar buttons, brushing intermittently against his neck and Adam’s apple flirtily.
They had been together long enough to understand each other.
“I accept your goodwill, but…” Diarmuid chuckled after studying her for a bit and leaned in to whisper into her ear, “You should show some sincerity and prove you really came looking for me… and not because of something else.”
His lips pressed gently against her neck, his hot breath almost consuming her!
Despite already having two children with him, his teasing still left Abigail blushing and her throat parched. “You want me to prove it? Isn’t me being here proof enough?”
As he spoke, Diarmuid took her hand and placed it on his belt buckle. Abigail could snap at him for his brazenness right then-they were in his office, were they not?!
Was he not afraid someone would see?!
Her eyes darted everywhere as she became afraid to look him in the eye. “Stop messing around…”
“But I’m dead serious,” he said.
Abigail was speechless-how was goading her to take his belt off being dead serious?!
She changed the subject right then. “I saw you with a woman when I came. Who is she?”
Diarmuid stared at her for a beat. “Would you like to know?”
“Yes,” Abigail admitted.
Diarmuid released her then. “Go home if there’s nothing else. I’m busy.” Abigail was left speechless again-putting on airs, was he?
“You still haven’t told me who she is,” she said.
Diarmuid simply settled behind his desk, picked up a document folder, and replied offhandedly, “An important client.”
“How important?” Abigail pressed.
“Very,” Diarmuid replied.
“More important than me?” Abigail asked, her eyes fixed on him as she stood before his desk.
Diarmuid never looked up. “Depending on the situation.”
Abigail was left bristling right then, and she walked around the desk to grab his collar. “What was that supposed to means Are you going to have an you affair or perhaps have another woman on the side? Don’t forget that we have two children-“
Diarmuid looked up slowly then and said with aplomb, “Can’t stop women from throwing themselves at my feet even if we have ten.”
Abigail was left speechless by his conceit.
And yet, it rang true!
“She wants to jump you too, does she?” Abigail snapped, her tone m suddenly vicious: Cheat on me, and
Iremove your heart with a scalpel and feed it to the dogs!”
Diarmuid raised a brow and slowly pried Abigail’s fingers off his collar before pressing her palm over his chest. “I know you have steady hands, but could you bear to take my heart?”
Abigail stiffened, not about to back down. “Why wouldn’t I? You’re going to cheat on me.”
“Then you can have my heart right now,” he breathed as he wormed his other arm around her waist and pulled firmly, pressing her against himself.
Then, leaning in to breathe into her ear, he added, “Along with all that I am.”
Abigail flushed into her ears right then as she got flustered.
Even his palm burned.
Shyly lowering her gaze, she pouted. “Don’t try to entice me and think this is over…”
Diarmuid continued to nuzzle her ear. “Well, what did I do?”
“That woman-“
“Were we having sex?” he asked, cutting her short.
Abigail was speechless but answered, “Nope.”
She was just being paranoid and certainly did not see them getting intimate.
She trusted him from the bottom of her heart-it was not easy for them to get together after all they had been through.
However, relationships and feelings change, and she had to be wary— she refused to let her marriage end up a mess like her mother’s!
She wrapped her arms around his neck and gently kissed him on the lips. “If you don’t love me anymore, you have to tell—”
He pressed his lips over hers before she could finish, and he kissed her so deeply she flushed from asphyxiation.
She gently shoved him in reflex. “Slow down…”
Diarmuid loosened his grip but did not release her, and Abigail answered his advances in turn
She knew that Diarmuid would definitely get upset if she mentioned going to Minerva now, and she had to give something in return.
She was not being selfish, but she should be more considerate that she had a family…
However, she felt a sudden breeze on her chest while her mind was adrift.
Startled, she came to her senses and found Diarmuid groping her breasts. She promptly caught his wrists, moaning, “Y-You’re crazy…”
They were in his office!
“I know,” Diarmuid rasped and picked her up by the waist, so that she straddled his hip while clinging to his waist.
“If you know, then-“
Click.
She heard the door being locked behind her as he pressed her against the door while staring into nereyes. “I
кром know you’re going back to Minerva again, and you’re here to ask for my approval. So, satisfy me and it’s a yes.”
Abigail was surprised that he would see through her, but it was likely that her visit was too deliberate.
But since he already knew, Abigail decided to just come clean. Cupping his cheeks, she half-joked, “Aren’t you tired after last night?”
