Chapter 309 – After the One-Night Stand with a Heartless Billionaire

The New Year was approaching, and practical exercise training was about to begin at the Military Academy in Birmingham.

After getting his number plate, Ryan carefully pinned it to his uniform.

“Hey there, loser,” Emily said as she stood behind him.

Before turning around, Ryan felt a powerful arm slap him on the shoulder. Emily smacked him so hard that he nearly coughed up blood.

Meanwhile, Emily didn’t notice his reaction and said to him, “Just stay behind me after we leave the military zone later. Ill protect you.”

Ryan pushed her away with all his strength and said, “I’m not doing that! What did you just call me, by the way? We have to call each other by code names because it’s a rule. Remember, my code name is Phoenix.”

Emily scowled at him, slung her drill gun over her shoulder, and said, “Shut up, loser. My cross-country scores were much higher than your highest scores even when I was on my period. In fact, the intelligence team is not required to take part in such exercises. This is not a big city, so we can just do a blanket search instead.”

Ryan was speechless for a moment before saying, “You can indeed blanket search the city. But what if we’re really at war right now? Do you have to waste so much time unnecessarily searching all over the world if We’re not around?”

Emily raised her brows and said, “Good idea! All jokes aside, Ryan, you can just follow me.”

Ryan shook off her hand and said as he walked forward, “No, I’m not interested in it. Besides, I have something important to do this time. You don’t require someone to provide you with intelligence, do you? So, III just do my business.”

“No, you can’t leave here on your own,” Emily said when she caught up with him,

‘•Yes, can. You said we would conduct a blanket search, didn’t you? I’ll go to the city’s east side while the others look elsewhere,” Ryan answered.

“There’s nothing to look for on the city’s east side! You won’t find anything because there are a lot of people there. Go to the west side!”

“No! I’m heading to the east side.”

When Emily noticed Ryan’s persistence, she asked suspiciously, “What makes you want to go there so badly? Are you looking for something specific?”

“Yeah, there’s a drug den there,” Ryan nodded, “so I’m going to check it out.”

“You’re kidding me, right? Why didn’t you tell the cops if it’s true?”

“I suspect those drug dealers are connected to the narcotics squad. So I’m going to go find them by myself.”

Emily initially assumed Ryan was teasing her. But when she heard Ryan begin to tell the details, she became irritated and exclaimed, “You’re just messing around!”

“No, I’m not!”

“You cannot go there on your own! I’m going to tell our school about this!”

Ryan tugged Emily’s arm and said, “No, don’t! Emily, I can handle it myself. Please. “

Emily gave him a stern look and said, “Are you insane?! Our operation is merely a drill, and the crime dens are all set up by our school. Remember, we don’t have any real bullets in our guns! What can we do if something unexpected happens? There are more than just the two of us in our group. What if they truly believe it’s a fake one?”

Ryan said thoughtfully, “That’s why I asked you to put me in charge of that area! They won’t enter my area as long as we each set our own. Trust me, I’m confident I’ll catch their boss. I’m not doing this to take credit, Emily; I’m doing it to completely eliminate them.”

Emily went entirely still. She felt that whenever Ryan spoke seriously, his ideas always impressed her. Ryan first caught her eye when he gave his speech at the start of the school year as the delegate of his department.

Emily frowned and said, “Okay, I can promise you that. But you also have to promise me one thing.”

“What? Really?”

Ryan’s eyes glowed. Emily was the group’s commander. So, if she agreed to this request, his plan would be half-completed. He hadn’t expected Emily to be so easily persuaded.

“I’m going there with you.”

Hearing that, Ryan froze, not knowing what to say.

Emily continued, “And once we arrive there, you’ll have to ask my permission for everything you do. You must obey my orders because I am your commander.”

Ryan smirked. He was hesitant but had no choice but to comply with this request.

After the drill began, the students dispersed in groups. Emily asked two more students to accompany her and Ryan to the east of the city after dividing the areas for the group.
