Chapter 548 – Second Chance Love of the Missing Groom Novel

“You’ll definitely get better,” Abigail assured her. “And don’t worry-no one will find out.”

Lulu nodded as the plane began in descent.

Medical staff from the hospital were on hand to receive them, with Abigail making the arrangements.

Although her social circle was not exactly huge, most of her acquaintances were involved in the medical field.

And with Diarmuid, Abigail did not have to worry about money to get Lucas the best care.

Naturally, all the doctors and the treatment were first-class, and the plastic surgeon she got was incredibly accomplished. Abigail certainly had to make an effort to reach out to him, and he was supposed to be on leave.

At the airport, they moved Lulu into an ambulance that took her straight to the hospital, with Abigail keeping her company.

Before the surgeries, Lulu had a series of medical examinations, and Abigail got a call from Tommy before the results came.

“Mommy, when are you coming home? Daddy and I miss you so much.”

‘Til be home soon,” Abigail replied.

“When is that, Mommy?” Tommy pressed. “You said the same thing before, but it’s been so long. Are you lying to me?”

Abigail laughed. “How about I buy you a present when I get home?”

“I don’t want anything but you. Are you going on a trip without me because I’m a burden?” Tommy complained.

Abigail was left speechless.

Honestly, this child…

“No, I’m not,” she said, coaxing her softly. “Be a good boy now, Tommy-I’ll head home soon. I miss you too, believe me.”

“Well, do you miss Daddy?” Tommy asked.

Abigail frowned—that did not seem like something Tommy would say!

“Is there someone there with you, Tommy?” she asked.

Tommy blinked and turned toward Zachary, who had been telling him what to say.

Zachary waved him off, so he said, “There’s no one with me.’

“Really?” Abigail asked, clearly skeptical.

“When are you coming home, Mommy? What are you doing out there?

Daddy and I miss you so much…”

“Don’t you have anything better to do, Zachary?’ Erin snapped just then, striding toward Zachary as he told Tommy what to say.

“Is it fun, a grown man like you tricking a child?”

“Oh, I’m just trying to find out what Abigail’s been up to,” Zachary replied.

In truth, she was suspecting that Abigail had gone looking for Lulu. After all, she had no reason to be away for so long when she did not have a job while her family was in Franconia.

And she had returned to Zidonia for a while. What could be taking so long over there?

Still, Abigail heard everything from the other end and told Tommy to pass the phone to Zachary.

He took it since he was exposed, chuckling, “I’m just playing with your boy… M

“Save it,” Abigail snapped sternly. “I’m just settling some loose ends at work back at Zidonia. Be a bad influence on my son again and I’ll be very upset.”

Zachary gave in. ‘Calm down. I won’t teach him anything bad from now on, alright?”

“You’d better not. I’m asking Tommy once I get back, and I’ll disown you if I find out that you were trying anything funny. Get your act straight if you still want my respect.”

“Okay.” Zachary chuckled.

Seeing Lulu’s doctor arrive just then, Abigail said, “I still have work to do. I’ll be going now.”

Putting away her phone, she approached the doctor and asked, “How did the medical examination go?”

“The patient’s injuries are extensive,” the doctor replied. ’We need further examinations before surgery and plan the surgery accordingly.”

It was certainly better to be safe than sorry.

“Thank you,” Abigail said.

‘Til do my best to treat her since I took her in as a patient.” The doctor smiled. “I’m a perfectionist-l don’t know what she looked like before or whether I can restore her face to the way it was, but I’ll definitely make her look good.”

Abigail agreed-it was fine not to reconstruct Lulu’s original appearance as long as the plastic surgery was a success.

After Lulu stayed at the hospital, it was medical examinations and planning the surgery over the next few days.

Plastic surgery was not Abigail’s speciality, but she was allowed to be present and judge the success rate of the surgery with her own knowledge.

After days of discussion, they planned over a dozen surgeries, both major and minor.

It was possible for changes too, and Abigail understood that.

When she told Lulu about the procedures, however, Lulu remained silent.

Unsure if she was actually agreeing to it, Abigail tried to persuade her. “You’d look good even if you can’t restore your original looks. Just think about- it’s a new face, a fresh start. Not a bad choice at all.”

Lulu understood what Abigail meant, and it was not as if she disagreed, but…

“Alright, let’s go with that!”

Still, she had already agreed to live on for her child, even if she had to do it pitifully.

Abigail’s heart ached for her. “I’m staying here with you. You won’t have to be afraid about being alone.”

“But you just said there’ll be over a dozen surgeries. That would take a while, and it’s not as if I don’t know a thing about medical procedures. I’m mentally prepared as well, so you don’t have to stay here with me-you have a family, or are you abandoning them for me, staying here all this while?”

“Diarmuid would understand,” Abigail said, holding her hand. “And you don’t have to worry about me-my mother will take care of my sons very well in my absence. On the other hand, I’m the only one who can keep you company, so how could I abandon you?’

“I know you’re being kind to me, but you should go home for a while before coming back. You don’t have to stay,” Lulu insisted.

She did not want Abigail to neglect her own family for her. After all, women had many things to attend to after marriage, and freedom was nonexistent when they had a husband and children. They would always have to think fortheir family’s sake.

“Yeah, but not now,” Abigail said. “We just came-you’re probably not used to this place, but I’ll go back once your first surgery is successfully completed. N

Abigail was certainly considerate for Lulu’s sake, as if it was not until six days after Lulu was moved to Minerva that Lulu had her first surgery.

It took four hours, but thankfully went smoothly.
